HOW YOU CAN HELP
There are SO MANY THINGS you can do to help others + the environment around you. I've listed a handful of gestures here, big and small, but the possibilities are ENDLESS! People tend to think that being generous takes money and power, but it just takes some time and a little bit of effort to do things and make an impact. I urge you to think of something you're passionate about and get involved!
Check out the MOST. PRECIOUS. VOLUNTEERING. JOB. EVER. Did you know that hospitals need volunteers to give babies/preemies the skin-to-skin contact they need to grow, while giving their parents some much-needed help when they can't be with their children for whatever reason.
My mom has been volunteering at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and she absolutely adores the time she gets to spend in the NICU. TONS of hospitals could use your help, so if you have time to donate, apply to be a VOLUNTEER BABY CUDDLER TODAY! Parkland Volunteer Info |

This sweet nonprofit organization, Cleaning For A Reason, offers FREE housecleaning to women undergoing chemotherapy. Their goal is to let these brave and strong women focus on their health and treatment while they focus on, and take away the worry and work of, cleaning their homes– free of charge.
They have recruited over 1,200 maid services to donate free housecleaning to women who are undergoing treatment for cancer since 2006. They're huge and nationally recognized with cleaning partners in every single state, so do your part to pass it on and help support these women that are fighting for their life!

Smile Train
As the owner of a pretty grotesque scar on my arm (result of a work accident/burn in 2011), I was pretty unhappy about it for years. Once I let the anger and bitterness fade, I turned that energy to SMILE TRAIN, a super cute and thriving nonprofit that provides corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates all over the world.
YOU CAN HELP MAKE THEM FEEL BEAUTIFUL! One surgery only costs $250… that’s you + 9 friends giving $25 each to give a child a brand new beautiful smile, so they don't have to go through life self-conscious that they don't have a beautiful smile like you. Could be a super fun project for you or your kiddies, along with teaching a great message that beauty comes in all different forms.
Tons of other ways to help too that don’t cost $. Check them out!

Cards for Kidz
Dedicate some crayons and creativity to make homemade cards and send them for distribution in hospitals and Ronald McDonald Houses across the nation. Make General or Holiday/Seasonal cards and let a child know that you're thinking about them. I simply print black and white clipart from Google (FOR FREE!) and color them. Visit their website for tips and suggestions on what to/not to write to make the biggest impact. Get creative - include one in your family Christmas card or at your child's birthday party. You can even HOST A CARD EVENT! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO! |

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
It all started with one front yard lemonade stand. When Alex was just four-years-old, she held her first childhood cancer fundraiser in her front yard and raised over $2,000. By the time of her death in 2004, Alex raised $1 million and inspired a legacy of hope and cures for childhood cancer.
ALSF raises money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures and to encourage and empower others – especially children – to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer.
As we all know by now, childhood cancer does not discriminate. You or someone you know has most likely been impacted in some way or another, and I urge you to get involved in the fight! There are SO MANY things you can do to help. If you like the ALSF and what they stand for, check out ways to get involved with them here!
